{"id":9519,"date":"2021-09-01T16:56:30","date_gmt":"2021-09-01T16:56:30","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.furman.edu\/news\/2021\/09\/08\/furman-again-ranked-among-princeton-reviews-best-colleges\/"},"modified":"2022-09-07T15:42:53","modified_gmt":"2022-09-07T19:42:53","slug":"furman-again-ranked-among-princeton-reviews-best-colleges","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.furman.edu\/news\/furman-again-ranked-among-princeton-reviews-best-colleges\/","title":{"rendered":"Furman again ranked among Princeton Review\u2019s \u2018Best Colleges\u2019"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Furman University has once again been listed in The Princeton Review\u2019s &#8220;The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.princetonreview.com\/college-rankings?rankings=best-387-colleges\">Best 387 Colleges\u201d in the country<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Unlike in years past, the publication, which bases its rankings on student and school administrator responses to surveys, did not include rankings for separate categories because students at many schools were attending class remotely due to the COVID-19 pandemic and were unavailable to be surveyed.<\/p>\n<p>Earlier this year, Furman ranked No. 15 in Princeton Review\u2019s list of private <a href=\"https:\/\/www.princetonreview.com\/college-rankings?rankings=top-20-best-schools-for-making-an-impact-private-schools\">schools for making an impact<\/a> in its \u201cBest Value Colleges\u201d guide, which includes the country\u2019s top 200 universities with the best return on investment.<\/p>\n<p>Furman students who were surveyed previously for \u201cThe Best 387 Colleges\u201d guide said the university helps students become the best versions of themselves, noting resources ranging from \u201cgood study abroad\u201d options and \u201cexperiential learning\u201d to \u201cmany opportunities for research and internships.\u201d One student wrote that the faculty \u201clove teaching and instilling a passion for growth, inquiry and engagement.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Students also noted the university\u2019s efforts to \u201cinvite a greater diversity of individuals, especially in regard to race,\u201d and that students have fairly diverse interests. They also said that while students \u201care very motivated and driven to perform well academically,\u201d there\u2019s a lack of competition in favor of pushing \u201ceach other to be the best people possible.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In last year\u2019s publication, Furman ranked No. 2 for \u201cMost Politically Active Students,\u201d No. 12 for \u201cMost Accessible Professors,\u201d No. 16 in the category of \u201cMost Active Student Government,\u201d No. 10 for \u201cBest Classroom Experience\u201d and No. 12 for \u201cBest College Theater.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The schools listed in the 2022 edition of \u201cThe Best 387 Colleges\u201d guide are among about 14 percent of all four-year universities in the country.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Furman University has once again been listed in The Princeton Review\u2019s &#8220;The Best 387 Colleges\u201d in the country.
