Henry McMaster might be the longest-serving governor in the state of South Carolina if he holds his seat in next year&#8217;s gubernatorial election and completes his second full term. But Democratic challenger and former U.S. Representative Joe Cunningham, who announced his candidacy today, says McMaster&#8217;s tenure is part of the state&#8217;s problems. <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.postandcourier.com\/politics\/sc-democrat-joe-cunningham-takes-aim-at-mcmaster-while-announcing-governor-bid\/article_5909f79c-a2e2-11eb-af22-2bebaca3096a.html\">The Post and Courier<\/a><\/strong> spoke to Danielle Vinson &#8217;89, a professor of politics and international affairs at Furman University, about Cunningham&#8217;s bid. \u201cIt\u2019s an uphill climb because Republicans have locked down this state mostly on social and national issues,\u201d she said. \u201cBut Cunningham has done a good job of walking that line.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Republican Gov.
