Hollingsworth Scholarship, while eight students were awarded the Charles H. Townes Scholarship.\u00a0 Both provide $25,000 per year in scholarship aid with a $1,000 stipend to study abroad and a $1,500 summer internship or research stipend.<\/p>\n<p>The Hollingsworth Scholarship,\u00a0named for the late John D. Hollingsworth, Jr., a Greenville businessman,\u00a0is available exclusively\u00a0to South Carolina residents.<\/p>\n<p>The Townes Scholarship is named for Charles H. Townes, the Furman alumnus and trustee emeritus who received the 1964 Nobel Prize in physics and the 2005 Templeton Prize.\u00a0 Only out-of-state students are eligible for the scholarships.<\/p>\n<p>Prospective students interested in applying for the Hollingsworth or Townes scholarships should visit the Furman <a href=\"http:\/\/www2.furman.edu\/admission\/EngageFurman\/FinancialInfo\/Pages\/HollingsworthandTownesScholarships.aspx\">website<\/a>.\u00a0 For more information, call the Furman Admissions office at (864) 294-2034.<\/p>\n<p>Here are the 2011-12 Hollingsworth and Townes scholars:<\/p>\n<p><strong>2011-12 Hollingsworth Scholars<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>ANDERSON, S.C.\u00a0\u2014 Levan Khulordava, son of Irakli Khulordava and Laura Kukhalashvili of Anderson.
