{"id":9082,"date":"2020-12-10T01:08:45","date_gmt":"2020-12-10T01:08:45","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.furman.edu\/news\/2020\/12\/10\/geek-out-over-christmas-films\/"},"modified":"2022-09-07T15:36:46","modified_gmt":"2022-09-07T19:36:46","slug":"geek-out-over-christmas-films","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.furman.edu\/news\/geek-out-over-christmas-films\/","title":{"rendered":"Geek out over Christmas films"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The holiday season brings a full slate of must-see movies, among them, &#8220;A Christmas Story,&#8221; &#8220;White Christmas,&#8221; and &#8220;It&#8217;s a Wonderful Life.&#8221; The Upcountry History Museum &#8211; Furman University was featured in <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2020\/12\/05\/arts\/christmas-movies-from-home.html\">The New York Times<\/a><\/strong> for the museum&#8217;s tribute to Irving Berlin&#8217;s &#8220;White Christmas.&#8221; The special exhibition about the 1954 musical romantic comedy includes original costumes, props and memorabilia from the film &#8211; many items borrowed from the permanent collection at the Rosemary Clooney House in Augusta, Kentucky.<\/p>\n<p>Clooney, Bing Crosby, Vera-Ellen and Danny Kaye star in the blockbuster film as as a group of entertainers who try to save a struggling Vermont\u00a0 lodge after World War II. Short videos about the exhibition are available on the museum\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/p\/CHinDe_jI9b\/\">Instagram<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0<a class=\"css-1g7m0tk\" title=\"\" href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=4BdKg6MmKdo\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">YouTube<\/a> channels.
