Brewmasters Marcy (Bradley) Larson ’79 and Geoff Larson, co-founders of Alaskan Brewing Company, have been named Citizens of the Year by the Greater Juneau Chamber of Commerce. The couple established the brewery – the first in Juneau since prohibition – in 1986 when they were both 28 years of age. With her husband, a chemical engineer and University of Maryland alumnus, they have grown the company from 10 volunteers hand-packing the first cases of beer to 110 employees who make and distribute product to 25 states. Sadly, none of the distribution outlets are in the South.<\/p>\n
Marcy, an accountant and aspiring bush pilot, graduated Furman with a photojournalism degree through the Individualized Curriculum Program.
