Furman University graduated nearly 30 students in December as the newest members of the class of 2019.<\/p>\n

While most of the newly minted graduates will likely walk at formal commencement in spring 2020, a small cohort availed themselves to a quiet, more intimate setting at a reception that took place in Hartness Pavilion Wednesday, Dec. 18.<\/p>\n

President Elizabeth Davis opened the event with remarks, followed by a welcome from Vice President for Academic Affairs and Provost Ken Peterson. Graduates were recognized individually by Associate Academic Dean and Associate Professor of Spanish Jeremy Cass.<\/p>\n

Degrees were conferred to five members of the Class of 2019: Samuel Reed Horton (sociology);\u00a0Kirkland McKenzie Manning (English); Piper Nicole Powell (German studies, psychology);\u00a0Quandarius Weems (communication studies); and\u00a0Sean Wesley Simmons (music performance). Diplomas will be mailed to all graduates after the start of the new year.<\/p>\n
