{"id":8434,"date":"2019-10-09T18:19:42","date_gmt":"2019-10-09T18:19:42","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.furman.edu\/news\/2019\/10\/09\/graduates-of-manufacturing-management-program-gain-new-leadership-skills\/"},"modified":"2022-09-07T15:30:05","modified_gmt":"2022-09-07T19:30:05","slug":"graduates-of-manufacturing-management-program-gain-new-leadership-skills","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.furman.edu\/news\/graduates-of-manufacturing-management-program-gain-new-leadership-skills\/","title":{"rendered":"Graduates of manufacturing management program gain new leadership skills"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The <a href=\"http:\/\/www2.furman.edu\/sites\/center-for-corporate-and-professional-development\/Pages\/default.aspx\">Center for Corporate and Professional Development (CPD)<\/a> at Furman University recently recognized nine graduates of its Postgraduate Diploma in Manufacturing Management.<\/p>\n<p>Engineers from Spartanburg-based <a href=\"https:\/\/www.jm.com\/\">Johns Manville<\/a> completed the 100-hour program, which encompassed finance, leadership, negotiations, innovation, decision making and a range of other applicable skills.<\/p>\n<p>Also known as S.P.E.E.D., Spartanburg Program for Engineer Education and Development, the program was developed by Johns Manville Plant Manager Andy Universal in cooperation with Furman\u2019s CPD.<\/p>\n<p>The graduates include:<\/p>\n<p>Chris Froiland<br \/>\nAmanda Gossett<br \/>\nJacob Lass<br \/>\nMichael McNutt<br \/>\nKatelyn May<br \/>\nKevin Morrow<br \/>\nAyobami Olabintan<br \/>\nJoel Register<br \/>\nJesus Velez<\/p>\n<p>The program was sponsored in part by the South Carolina Manufacturing Extension Partnership and a grant from the state of South Carolina.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAlthough many employees who hold four-year engineering degrees have a desire to move into managerial positions, they lack experience or training in some of the areas required for management.
