{"id":8345,"date":"2019-08-14T15:43:08","date_gmt":"2019-08-14T19:43:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.furman.edu\/news\/2019\/08\/23\/get-ready-for-a-new-school-year\/"},"modified":"2022-11-06T18:34:48","modified_gmt":"2022-11-06T23:34:48","slug":"get-ready-for-a-new-school-year","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.furman.edu\/news\/get-ready-for-a-new-school-year\/","title":{"rendered":"Get ready for a new school year"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Furman University\u2019s 2019-20 academic year will officially get underway Tuesday, Aug. 27 when students attend their first day of classes.<\/p>\n<p>Approximately 660 first-year students will report to campus Friday, Aug. 23 while the rest of the university\u2019s 2,700 undergraduate students will arrive on Sunday, Aug. 25.<\/p>\n<p>Furman will hold its opening convocation Monday, Aug. 26 at 11 a.m. in McAlister Auditorium.<\/p>\n<p>The fall term ends Dec. 18, while spring term begins Jan. 13 and ends Apr. 28.\u00a0 Commencement will be held Saturday, May 9.\u00a0 The May Experience term will run May 13-June 3.<\/p>\n<p>For more information, contact Furman&#8217;s Office of News and Media Relations at 864-294-3107.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Furman University\u2019s 2019-20 academic year will officially get underway Tuesday, Aug. 27 when students attend their first day of classes.
