A Celebration of Art Song from Catalunya,\u201d is free and open to the public and is presented by the Furman Department of Music.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_38033\" style=\"width: 265px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><img decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-38033\" class=\"wp-image-38033 size-full lazyload\" data-src=\"https:\/\/news.furman.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/Oksana-Glouchko.jpg\" alt=\"Jess Mu\u00f1oz\" width=\"255\" height=\"319\" src=\"data:image\/svg+xml;base64,PHN2ZyB3aWR0aD0iMSIgaGVpZ2h0PSIxIiB4bWxucz0iaHR0cDovL3d3dy53My5vcmcvMjAwMC9zdmciPjwvc3ZnPg==\" style=\"--smush-placeholder-width: 255px; --smush-placeholder-aspect-ratio: 255\/319;\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-38033\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Piano and voice collaborator Oksana Glouchko will accompany Mu\u00f1oz.<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Mu\u00f1oz will be accompanied by acclaimed Russian-Israeli piano and vocal collaborator Oksana Glouchko. During their visit to campus, Mu\u00f1oz and Glouchko will lead master classes with Furman music students.<\/p>\n<p>The recital features classical songs of Catalunya, whose music was repressed as a result of Francisco Franco\u2019s regime when the dictator banned Catalan, the native language of the autonomous Spanish community. The program includes music by 20<sup>th<\/sup> and 21<sup>st<\/sup> century composers Manuel De Falla, Frederic Mompou, Eduard Toldra, Elisenda F\u00e1bregas and Joan Comellas.<\/p>\n<p>Praised by The New York Times for \u201ccrucially, deftly navigating the border of genuine emotion through his singing,\u201d Mu\u00f1oz enjoys a full schedule of opera, concerts and recitals, performing repertoire from the Renaissance and Baroque periods to the 21<sup>st<\/sup> century.<\/p>\n<p>He has appeared with leading ensembles and companies around the world including the Israel Philharmonic, the New York Philharmonic, New York City Opera, Cincinnati Opera, Mostly Mozart Festival at Lincoln Center, the Grammy-Winning Voices of Ascension, Verbier Music Festival of Switzerland and Bard Music Festival, among others.<\/p>\n<p>His collaboration with Iranian composer Hafez Nazeri can be heard on Sony Classical&#8217;s album, \u201cRumi Symphony Project Untold,\u201d which was twice ranked Billboard&#8217;s #1 Classical Album (2013). Learn more at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.jessmunoz.com\/\">www.JessMunoz.com<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Glouchko has led a multi-faceted career as a soloist, chamber player and teacher, winning praise for lending her interpretive voice to the great classics of the piano repertoire, from Bach and Mozart to Rachmaninov and Ravel.<\/p>\n<p>Glouchko has appeared as soloist at Switzerland\u2019s Bloney Festival, Mozart Fest in Valetta, Malta, and the International Festival and Institute at Round Top in the United States.<\/p>\n<p>Recent engagements include those with Chile Symphony Orchestra, Rishon-Lezion Symphony Orchestra, and the Carter Symphony Orchestra of Tel Aviv. She is a winner of the Claudio Arrau International Competition in Chile, the National Competition of Russian Composers and the Glinka National Piano Competition in Smolensk.
