The Furman Department of Art, in conjunction with Atlanta-based Miami Ad School @ Portfolio Center, will kick off the second annual \u201cSleep When You\u2019re Dead\u201d 24-hour student design competition with a networking social on Friday, Jan. 25, from 5 to 6 p.m. in the Roe Art Building. The social is open to the public.<\/p>\n
For the competition, teams of four or five students and an advisor from Miami Ad School @ Portfolio Center will work together over approximately 24 hours to solve and submit solutions for the design project, which will be revealed following a talk by leading designer and brand strategist David Butler.<\/p>\n
Butler\u2019s CLP talk, which is open to the public, takes place at 6 p.m. Friday, Jan. 25, in the Roe Art Building. Butler, informed by his work with Coca-Cola, will discuss the importance of design as it relates to the cultures and societies around the world.\u00a0His talk will serve as the kickoff to the 24-hour marathon, which starts at 7:30 p.m.<\/p>\n
After projects are designed and prototypes are created, teams will present their solutions to a panel of judges at 3 p.m., Saturday, Jan. 26, in the Roe Art Building. Prizes will be awarded at 4:30 p.m.<\/p>\n
