CASE District III has honored Furman University Communications with three awards in recognition of the office\u2019s work to support the university\u2019s initiatives\u2014including the Grand Award for book design for \u201cIn the Kitchen at White Oaks.\u201d<\/p>\n

The wrap for the TIME magazine cover received the Award of Excellence.<\/p><\/div>\n

The university also received an Award of Excellence in the individual print advertisement category for its \u201cTIME Magazine Cover Wrap \u2013 We are the Ultra-Curricular,\u201d as well as a Special Merit award for its recruitment video, \u201cFurman University VLOG \u2013 Season 1.\u201d<\/p>\n

CASE District III advances and supports educational and professional institutions in the southeastern United States by enhancing the effectiveness of the alumni relations, fundraising, communications, marketing and other advancement professionals who serve them.<\/p>\n

\u201cIn the Kitchen at White Oaks\u201d is a part-recipe, part-history book written by First Gentleman Charles Davis and designed and published by Furman in 2018. It honors the 25th anniversary of the $21.4 million bequest to the university from Homozel Mickel Daniel, wife of Charles Daniel. The gift included their home, White Oaks, which now serves as the home of the Furman president.<\/p>\n

The book features recipes from the families of presidents John Plyler (1939-1964), Gordon Blackwell (1965-1976), John E. Johns (1976-1994), David Shi (1994-2010), Carl Kohrt (2013-14) and Elizabeth Davis, who became Furman\u2019s 12th<\/sup> president in 2014.<\/p>\n

Furman’s VLOG is a student-recruitment video series that showcases key Furman experiences.<\/p><\/div>\n

The TIME magazine cover wrap was part of an integrated campaign to reach peer and high school counselors and raise awareness, while the VLOG is a student-recruitment video series that showcases key Furman experiences and introduces the university to a younger generation of viewers.<\/p>\n

\u201cI am so proud of Furman and the work our office does to help promote the excellence of the university\u2019s students, faculty and staff and their dedication to higher learning,\u201d said Tom Evelyn, vice president for University Communications. \u201cWe have a team of communicators who are similarly dedicated to advancing Furman\u2019s reputation, recruiting students and engaging alumni and friends, and these awards are a recognition of their outstanding talent and expertise.\u201d<\/p>\n
