But challenges remain, say Furman University&#8217;s Brooke Culclasure and David Fleming, who write an opinion piece for <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.postandcourier.com\/opinion\/commentary\/south-carolina-s-public-montessori-programs-can-bridge-achievement-gap\/article_51acf6fa-e2b6-11e8-bd5e-671dff741f20.html\">The Post and Courier<\/a><\/strong>. Among the hurdles are a growing teacher shortage and a widening achievement gap along racial and economic lines.
