Furman will continue to monitor the storm and announce any further decisions on possible campus closings by mid-day Friday.

Classes have been canceled to give students ample time, in consultation with their families, to decide whether they want to travel away from the path of the storm. The university will continue to offer campus services to students who remain on campus. (See below for more information about services and activities.)

The memorial service to remember the life of Reilly Shea Simmons originally scheduled for tomorrow will be postponed. The campus community will be informed of the new date and time once the service has been rescheduled.

Students remaining on campus through the weekend should be aware of their surroundings during inclement weather, which includes the possibility of falling trees and limbs, localized flooding or downed electrical lines. More information about hurricane preparedness is available at the National Weather Service.

Furman will provide regular updates on the Furman news site.
