Furman University has named the first recipients of its Osher Reentry Scholarships.<\/p>\n
The scholarships are made possible through a $50,000 grant Furman received earlier this summer from the Bernard Osher Foundation. Each adult learner receives an award of up to $5,000 to help them continue or supplement their education without interrupting their careers.<\/p>\n
The recipients of the Osher Reentry Scholarships are:<\/p>\n
Mason Davis<\/strong> of Easley Including Furman, there are 93 universities and colleges with an Osher Reentry Scholarship program across all 50 states and the District of Columbia.<\/p>\n Furman Undergraduate Evening Studies (UES) officials say there’s a need to close the talent gap in the current workforce and attract more and better-qualified workers. In an earlier statement, UES Director Beth Crews noted that while the Greenville region is growing rapidly, the population is not keeping pace with the educational needs of the job market. \u201cFurman\u2019s UES prepares adult learners to fill the need for business leaders, resulting from the influx of new industry to our region,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n For more information about Osher Reentry Scholarships, visit www.furman.edu\/osher<\/a>.
