Duke Library has announced several poetry readings featuring poets from the newly-published anthology \u201cArchive: South Carolina Poetry Since 2005.\u201d<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_36010\" style=\"width: 310px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><img decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-36010\" class=\"wp-image-36010 size-full lazyload\" data-src=\"https:\/\/www.furman.edu\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/218\/2022\/08\/archive-cover-image-300x470-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"470\" src=\"data:image\/svg+xml;base64,PHN2ZyB3aWR0aD0iMSIgaGVpZ2h0PSIxIiB4bWxucz0iaHR0cDovL3d3dy53My5vcmcvMjAwMC9zdmciPjwvc3ZnPg==\" style=\"--smush-placeholder-width: 300px; --smush-placeholder-aspect-ratio: 300\/470;\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-36010\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">&#8220;Archive&#8221; is published by The Ninety-Six Press and is edited by Gil Allen, Jeffrey Makala and Bill Rogers.<\/p><\/div>\n<p>The first of three scheduled readings from \u201cArchive\u201d takes place 2-3 p.m., Saturday, Aug. 18 at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.hungrydrover.com\/\">The Hungry Drover<\/a>, 2601 Tigerville Road in Travelers Rest. Food and drink will be available for sale during the event.<\/p>\n<p>Said Furman University Special Collections Librarian and Archivist Jeffrey Makala, \u201cEach reading will have an ever-changing array of some of the 46 contemporary South Carolina poets featured in the anthology.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Published earlier this year by Ninety-Six Press, \u201cArchive\u201d is edited by retired Furman English professors Gil Allen and Bill Rogers, and Makala.<\/p>\n<p>Featured readers for the Aug. 18 event include Gil Allen, Claire Bateman, Kimberly Simms Gibbs, Terri McCord, Ron Moran, Brian Slusher, Nancy Dew Taylor, and Ceille Baird Welch. Makala will moderate the reading and will have copies of \u201cArchive\u201d on hand for purchase.<\/p>\n<p>Other readings are slated throughout the state. A reading at the Peace Center is set for 6:30 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 20. The event is part of the Peace Voices poetry series and is free and open to the public.<\/p>\n<p>In Charleston, a reading will be held 5 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 22 at <a href=\"http:\/\/bluebicyclebooks.com\/\">Blue Bicycle Books<\/a>, 420 King Street.<\/p>\n<p>For more information, contact Jeffrey Makala at the James B.
