As Davis explored his role as the University&#8217;s inaugural first gentleman, his instincts led him to the kitchen at White Oaks, the residence of Furman presidents and their families. The home was gifted to Furman by Homozel Mickel Daniel 25 years ago, and Davis uses the anniversary as a launching pad to celebrate the home and recipes of Furman presidents, past and present.\u00a0Davis spoke about the inspiration for <em>In the Kitchen at White Oaks <\/em>during an\u00a0interview with <em><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.greenvilleonline.com\/story\/entertainment\/2017\/11\/27\/new-cookbook-details-history-and-recipes-furman-universitys-white-oaks\/882736001\/\">The Greenville News&#8217;<\/a><\/strong><\/em> Lillia Callum-Penso. Said Davis,\u00a0\u201cI think you could have done just a cookbook, I think you could have done just a book on the house. But thinking about the kitchen being the heart of hospitality, to me it just made a lot of sense to bring them together.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Davis will sign copies of his book at the University&#8217;s grand opening of Furman on Main Tuesday, Nov. 28, 5:30-9 p.m. at M.
