Furman University\u2019s Marching Band, The Paladin Regiment, will present its annual Band Extravaganza concert Friday, Nov. 10 at 8 p.m. in McAlister Auditorium.<\/p>\n
The concert, part of Furman\u2019s Cultural Life Program, is open to the public and is held in conjunction with Family Weekend at the university. Tickets are $5 and are available at the door.<\/p>\n
Under the direction of Jay Bocook, The Paladin Regiment performs the set list from its 2017 Exhibition Show \u201cThe King of Pop,\u201d which explores the music of Michael Jackson with faculty arrangements of hits \u201cThriller,\u201d \u201cThey Don\u2019t Care About Us,\u201d \u201cMan in the Mirror,\u201d and \u201cSmooth Criminal.\u201d<\/p>\n
The Paladin Regiment also presents traditional Furman songs and favorite stand charts. Led by Drum Majors senior Emma Gierszal (Mt. Pleasant), and sophomore Raven Althouse (Rebersburg, Penn.), the band showcases The Furman Dance Company, which performs choreography to \u201cYou Can Call Me Al\u201d by Paul Simon, \u201cLand of a Thousand Dances\u201d made famous by Wilson Pickett, and \u201cUptown Funk\u201d by Bruno Mars. Award-winning senior twirler McKenna Luzynski (Roanoke, Va.) entertains during selected numbers throughout the program.<\/p>\n
Paying homage to the United States, The Paladin Regiment presents settings of \u201cAmerica the Beautiful\u201d and \u201cThe Star-Spangled Banner.\u201d<\/p>\n
One of six major ensembles in the Furman Band program, The Paladin Regiment performs at all home football games, and has been invited to compete at the South Carolina Band Directors Association 5-A Marching Band Championships Nov. 4 in Columbia.<\/p>\n
