Hancock will open the Tocqueville Program lecture series Monday, Oct. 2 at 5 p.m. in Johns Hall 101 on the Furman University campus.<\/p>\n<p>His talk, \u201cChristianity and the Political Life,\u201d is free and open to the public. Hancock, Brigham Young University political science professor<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Hancock has taught political philosophy at Brigham Young University\u2019s College of Family, Home and Social Sciences since 1987. He is also President of the John Adams Center for the Study of Faith, Philosophy and Public Affairs, an independent educational foundation (<a href=\"http:\/\/johnadamscenter.com\/\">johnadamscenter.org<\/a>).<\/p>\n<p>His books include <em>The Responsibility of Reason: Theory and Practice in a Liberal-Democratic Age<\/em> (Rowman &amp; Littlefield), and <em>Calvin and the Foundations of Modern Politics<\/em> (Saint Augustine\u2019s Press).
