Furman University Theatre will present Neil LaBute\u2019s Reasons to Be Pretty <\/em>September 26-30 at 8 p.m. with matinee performances Sept. 30 and Oct. 1 at 3 p.m. All performances take place in The Playhouse on the Furman University campus.<\/p>\n

LaBute’s “Reasons to Be Pretty” is directed by Jay Oney.<\/p><\/div>\n

Directed by Furman Theatre professor Jay Oney, Reasons to Be Pretty<\/em> is open to the public. Tickets are $18 for adults, $15 for seniors and $10 for students.<\/p>\n

A hopelessly romantic drama about the hopelessness of romance, Reasons to Be Pretty<\/em> is the first installment (followed by Reasons to Be Happy<\/em> and Reasons to Be Pretty Happy<\/em>) in LaBute\u2019s trilogy focusing on two young couples whose lives and careers become extremely entangled. When an off-handed remark disrupts the lives of Greg and Steph, they, and their sometime friends, Carly and Kent, confront self-deceit, treachery, and their own willingness to change. Reasons to Be Pretty<\/em> has the razor-sharp wit and insight expected from LaBute, but with an extraordinary new twist\u2014hope!<\/p>\n

TIME<\/em> magazine describes the play as \u201cTight, tense and emotionally true, and it portrays characters who actually seem part of the world that the rest of us live in.\u201d<\/p>\n
