Her talk is interspersed with songs in the Baroque style sung by Furman vocal students. Professor of Music Charles Tompkins accompanies the vocalists on organ and harpsichord.<\/p>\n<p>The lecture and demonstration, \u201cLa Grazia\u201d (or Gracefulness), take place Thursday, Sept. 21 at 7 p.m. in Daniel Recital Hall on campus. The event is free and open to the public.<\/p>\n<p>The guest artists will also present master classes in Daniel Recital Hall Wednesday, Sept. 20 and Thursday, Sept. 21 at 2:30-4 p.m. both days. The master classes are also free and open to the public.<\/p>\n<p>Feldman, an American-born soprano, and a studio voice teacher in Furman\u2019s Music in Italy program, is a leading artist in the field of medieval, Baroque and Classical music. She enjoys a successful international career as a performer and recording artist, holding a discography of more than 50 recordings including music by Monteverdi, Caccini, Handel, Purcell, Charpentier and others.<\/p>\n<p>Feldman\u2019s work during her Furman residency will focus on Baroque-style practice, including the proper application of ornamentation, clarity and nuance of text declamation in Baroque recitative and overall performance practice techniques.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_34079\" style=\"width: 310px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><img decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-34079\" class=\"size-full wp-image-34079 lazyload\" data-src=\"https:\/\/www.furman.edu\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/218\/2022\/08\/marta-cencini-900x600-portrait-e1505251668160.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"450\" src=\"data:image\/svg+xml;base64,PHN2ZyB3aWR0aD0iMSIgaGVpZ2h0PSIxIiB4bWxucz0iaHR0cDovL3d3dy53My5vcmcvMjAwMC9zdmciPjwvc3ZnPg==\" style=\"--smush-placeholder-width: 300px; --smush-placeholder-aspect-ratio: 300\/450;\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-34079\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Marta Cencini<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Cencini, an accomplished collaborative pianist and native of Arezzo, Italy, the site of Furman\u2019s study away program, will work with students in group and individual sessions on polishing and delivering Italian texts.<\/p>\n<p>A recap of the schedule of events follows.
