{"id":6890,"date":"2017-09-12T11:32:26","date_gmt":"2017-09-12T15:32:26","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.furman.edu\/news\/2017\/09\/12\/furman-makes-several-top-lists-in-latest-u-s-news-rankings\/"},"modified":"2024-09-23T09:58:48","modified_gmt":"2024-09-23T13:58:48","slug":"furman-makes-several-top-lists-in-latest-u-s-news-rankings","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.furman.edu\/news\/furman-makes-several-top-lists-in-latest-u-s-news-rankings\/","title":{"rendered":"Furman makes several top lists in U.S. News rankings"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Furman University is ranked among the \u201cMost Innovative Schools\u201d and \u201cHigh School Counselors\u2019 Top College Picks\u201d in the 2018 edition of the annual rankings released today by <em>U.S. News &amp; World Report<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>Furman is ranked No. 53 overall among the 233 colleges in the category of \u201cBest National Liberal Arts Colleges\u201d and remains the top-ranked liberal arts and sciences college in South Carolina. The schools in the national liberal arts category emphasize undergraduate education and award at least half of their degrees in the liberal arts and sciences.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhile our focus is on delivering the best education through The Furman Advantage, we recognize that many prospective students and their families look at rankings to start their college search,\u201d said Furman President Elizabeth Davis. \u201cWe are proud that our approach to preparing students for meaningful lives is being reflected in many ways in these latest rankings and indicators, including \u2018Most Innovative Schools\u2019 and \u2018High School Counselors\u2019 Top College Picks.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Furman was ranked No. 13 in the category of \u201cMost Innovative Schools,\u201d which is comprised of national liberal arts colleges that are making \u201ccutting-edge changes\u201d on their campuses.
