April 25 marks the day the university will\u00a0connect more than 2,000 photovoltaic solar panels\u00a0to the electrical grid that promise to reduce the\u00a0university\u2019s\u00a0electricity expenditures by up to 5 percent and greenhouse gas emissions by at least 3 percent. The 743-kW solar farm, which boasts the largest\u00a0solar installation on a college campus in South Carolina, is located on about six acres near the main campus entrance along\u00a0Poinsett Highway.
