The event is open to the public.<\/p>\n<p>The award highlights outstanding educational initiatives throughout the state, and is presented in conjunction with the South Carolina Chamber of Commerce and the South Carolina State Board of Education. Candidates were selected from more than 50 entries in the Riley Institute\u2019s WhatWorksSC<sup>sm<\/sup> clearinghouse.<\/p>\n<p>The 10 semifinalists are:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Bridges to a Brighter Future<\/strong><em>, <\/em>serving students in Greenville County Schools<\/li>\n<li><strong>Chester Park Elementary School of Inquiry<\/strong><em>, <\/em>Chester County Schools<\/li>\n<li><strong>Clemson University Reading Recovery Training Center<\/strong><em>, <\/em>serving students statewide<\/li>\n<li><strong>Diverse Pathways in Teacher Preparation, University of South Carolina<\/strong><em>, <\/em>serving students statewide<\/li>\n<li><strong>Early College High School<\/strong><em>, <\/em>Horry County Schools<\/li>\n<li><strong>Language! The Comprehensive Literacy Curriculum at West Ashley High School<\/strong><em>, <\/em>Charleston County School<\/li>\n<li><strong>Positive Behavior Intervention and Support<\/strong><em>, <\/em>Beaufort County Schools<\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">Project Lead the Way, Orangeburg School District 4\u2014Orangeburg Calhoun Technical College Middle College Partnership<\/span><\/li>\n<li><strong>Star Academy<\/strong><em>, <\/em>serving students in 12 South Carolina districts<\/li>\n<li><strong>Teacher Cadet Program, Center for Educator Recruitment, Retention and Advancement (CERRA)<\/strong><em>, <\/em>serving students statewide<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The winner receives a $10,000 grant sponsored by BB&amp;T for enhancement of the program or consultation with other schools, districts, and organizations interested in modeling the program.
