{"id":6352,"date":"2017-01-09T22:27:51","date_gmt":"2017-01-09T22:27:51","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.furman.edu\/news\/2017\/01\/17\/furman-army-rotc-program-is-honored\/"},"modified":"2022-09-07T14:54:49","modified_gmt":"2022-09-07T18:54:49","slug":"furman-army-rotc-program-is-honored","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.furman.edu\/news\/furman-army-rotc-program-is-honored\/","title":{"rendered":"Furman Army ROTC Program Honored"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Furman University has been awarded the Silver Distinguished Military Graduate Streamer by the 4<sup>th<\/sup> Brigade of the U.S. Army Cadet Command (Fort Bragg, N.C.).<\/p>\n<p>The honor recognizes universities in the 4<sup>th<\/sup> Brigade for having at least 20 percent of their commissioning seniors who have achieved national rankings. Furman exceeded that standard with four of its seniors receiving qualifying scores.<\/p>\n<p>Cadet Command is comprised of eight brigades, each responsible for a geographical and\/or functional area. The 4<sup>th<\/sup> Brigade includes U.S. Army ROTC programs in West Virginia, Maryland, Delaware, Virginia, North Carolina and South Carolina.<\/p>\n<p>More than 5,000 Cadets within the U.S. Army ROTC compete annually based on an Order-of-Merit List (OML). This list includes GPA, standardized test scores, Army Physical Fitness Scores, specific Command Interest Items, extracurricular activities, and language\/cultural awareness activities Cadets have completed, among other metrics.<\/p>\n<p>Said Furman University\u2019s Lt.
