Tickets are $12 for adults, $10 for seniors and $5 for students.<\/p>\n<p>Conducted by Furman Music Professor Dr. Thomas Joiner, the concert features the music of Berlioz, Haydn, Dukas, and Claude-Michel Sch\u00f6nberg.<\/p>\n<p>Paying homage to Paris, the \u201cCity of Lights,\u201d Dr. Joiner leads the FSO in selections which underscore the city\u2019s important role in the arc of music history. Says Joiner, \u201cParis has a distinguished musical heritage reaching back to the medieval period. One of the earliest forms of polyphonic music in Western history is referred to as \u201cNotre Dame Organum,\u201d and Paris was the heart of the \u201cArs Nova\u201d style of composition in the 1300s, which resulted in some of the most rhythmically complex music ever written until the twentieth century.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The program includes \u201cRoman Carnival Overture\u201d by Berlioz; Symphony No. 82 in C Major, \u201cThe Bear,\u201d by Haydn; \u201cThe Sorcerer\u2019s Apprentice\u201d by Dukas; and selections from <em>Les Mis\u00e9rables<\/em> by Claude-Michel Sch\u00f6nberg.<\/p>\n<p>Tickets may be ordered <a href=\"https:\/\/app.furman.edu\/FurmanMusicTickets\/\">online<\/a>.
