Country Music singer-songwriter Canaan Smith will be in concert on the campus of Furman University Wednesday, Oct. 5 at 7 p.m. in the amphitheater. Opening for Canaan Smith is Stop Light Observations. Gates open at 6 p.m.<\/p>\n
Sponsored by the Furman University Student Activities Board (FUSAB), the concert is open to the public. Tickets are available through Ticketmaster for $20, general admission. Day of show tickets are $30. Tickets for students with a valid Furman ID are $5, or $10 day of show. Rain location is McAlister Auditorium on campus.<\/p>\n
A Mercury Nashville artist and Virginia native, Canaan Smith has been named an \u201cArtist to Watch\u201d by The Huffington Post<\/em>, USA Today<\/em>, Yahoo! Music, Spotify and Rolling Stone<\/em>. Last summer he released his debut album, Bronco<\/em>, which includes the Platinum-Certified No. 1 hit \u201cLove You Like That,\u201d which sold more than 400,000 tracks in 2015. Bronco<\/em> debuted in the Top 5 on Billboard\u2019s Country Albums Chart and features 10 additional tracks.<\/p>\n Known for his storytelling, Smith has seen firsthand the impact his music has on fans as he has toured extensively with Darius Rucker, Dierks Bentley and Florida Georgia Line.<\/p>\n Smith\u2019s lyrical gifts earned the respect of his peers with songs recorded by Love & Theft, Cole Swindell and Jason Aldean, among others. Love & Theft took Smith\u2019s \u201cRunaway\u201d to the top 10 on the charts, and Aldean recorded \u201cBlack Tears,\u201d a song Smith co-wrote with Florida Georgia Line\u2019s Tyler Hubbard.<\/p>\n Smith began pursuing his musical dream at an early age. He was in the sixth grade when he and his two best friends formed a band, whose members remained together writing, recording and performing through their senior year of high school. Long before anyone had heard of Kickstarter, Smith and his band raised money to record their first album by selling advance copies to their friends at school.<\/p>\n Smith later moved to Nashville and enrolled at Belmont University while continuing to perform in clubs around Music City.
