But five years after taking a job with the Southern Environmental Law Center, he has appeared on the CBS news magazine \u201c60 Minutes,\u201d been quoted in <em>The New York Times<\/em> and testified before Congress\u2014all as part of an effort to change the way utilities get rid of coal ash. <strong><em><a href=\"http:\/\/www.thestate.com\/news\/local\/article103159872.html\">The State<\/a><\/em><\/strong> newspaper wrote about the work of Holleman, a 1976 Furman graduate who went on to earn a law degree at Harvard.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Furman alum Frank Holleman never planned to become a nationally recognized authority on coal ash, a toxin-riddled waste that has power companies under scrutiny across the country.
