Residents of the United Kingdom voted in June to leave the European Union, the 28-nation bloc that was formed just after World War II.\u00a0 How did that happen and what does that decision mean for Britain, the EU, the United States and the world?<\/p>\n

Dr. Brent Nelsen<\/strong><\/p><\/div>\n

Furman University political science professor Brent Nelsen will address that subject when he opens the university\u2019s High Noon fall lecture series Wednesday, Sept. 28 at noon at the Upcountry History Museum-Furman.<\/p>\n

His lecture, \u201cBrexit: Where Did It Come From and Where Is It Going?,\u201d is free and open to the public.<\/p>\n

Dr. Nelsen\u2019s talk is the first of six High Noon lectures that will take place this fall. All lectures are free and begin at noon on Wednesdays.\u00a0A complete schedule of the High Noon lectures is available on Furman\u2019s website.<\/p>\n

Nelsen, who joined the Furman faculty in 1990, teaches courses on Europe and the European Union and is the co-author of Religion and the Struggle for European Union: Confessional Culture and the Limits of European Integration. <\/em>\u00a0A graduate of Wheaton College, he holds M.A. and Ph.D. degrees from University of Wisconsin-Madison.<\/p>\n

The Upcountry History Museum\/Furman is located at 540 Buncombe Street in downtown Greenville\u2019s Heritage Green area.<\/p>\n
