{"id":6013,"date":"2016-08-10T14:49:16","date_gmt":"2016-08-10T18:49:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.furman.edu\/news\/2016\/08\/23\/its-almost-time-to-start-another-school-year\/"},"modified":"2022-11-06T21:02:44","modified_gmt":"2022-11-07T02:02:44","slug":"its-almost-time-to-start-another-school-year","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.furman.edu\/news\/its-almost-time-to-start-another-school-year\/","title":{"rendered":"A New School Year on the Horizon"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Furman University\u2019s 2016-17 academic year will officially get underway Tuesday, Aug. 23 when students attend their first day of classes.<\/p>\n<p>Approximately 780\u00a0freshmen reported to campus Friday, Aug. 19, while the rest of the university\u2019s 2,700 students will begin arriving on Sunday, Aug. 21.<\/p>\n<p>This year\u2019s freshman class represents 33 states and nine countries.<\/p>\n<p>Furman will hold its opening convocation Thursday, Sept. 1 at 10 a.m. in McAlister Auditorium.<\/p>\n<p>The fall term ends Dec. 6, while spring term begins Jan. 9 and ends Apr. 25.\u00a0 Commencement will be held Saturday, May 6.\u00a0 The May Experience term will run May 10-31.<\/p>\n<p>For more information, contact Furman&#8217;s Office of News and Media Relations at 864-294-3107.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Furman University\u2019s 2016-17 academic year will officially get underway Tuesday, Aug. 23 when students attend their first day of classes.
