As the Brevard Music Center Festival (N.C.) comes to a close, three prominent Furman alumni will take the stage.<\/p>\n

Brevard\u2019 s 80th Anniversary season rounds out with a triumphant performance of Beethoven’s 9th Symphony, conducted by Brevard Music Center Artistic Director Keith Lockhart (Class of 1981) and performed by the Brevard Music Center Orchestra. Conducting the chorus is Chorus Master Robert Moody (Class of 1989). Tenor Keith Jameson (Class of 1990) joins other acclaimed artists along with an ensemble chorus of over 150 BMC students and singers from throughout the community.<\/p>\n

Performed at BMC\u2019s open air Whittington-Pfohl Auditorium, the finale happens 3 p.m., Sunday, Aug. 7.<\/p>\n

Robert Moody, Chorus Master<\/p><\/div>\n

Moody has led the Winston-Salem Symphony since 2005, and has served as Artistic Director of the Arizona Musicfest since 2007. Music Director of the Portland Symphony Orchestra since 2008, Moody will take up the baton as Principal Conductor of the Memphis Symphony beginning with the 2016-2017 season.<\/p>\n

Keith Jameson, tenor<\/p><\/div>\n

A prolific performer and South Carolina native, Jameson recently appeared at the Hollywood Bowl as Spoletta in Tosca<\/em> with the Los Angeles Philharmonic. He began the 2015-2016 season at Lyric Opera of Chicago, as Basilio in Le nozze di Figaro<\/em>. His has held roles in dozens more productions including Becoming Santa Claus, Madama Butterfly<\/em>, Candide<\/em>, Carmen<\/em>, and The Magic Flute<\/em>, to name a few.<\/p>\n

Named Principal Conductor of the BMC in 2007, Lockhart says Beethoven 9 \u201c \u2026is the culminating statement of one of the greatest musicians of all time, and its message of peace and universal brotherhood is perhaps more important today than it was at the time of its composition.\u201d In 2015, Lockhart celebrated his 20th<\/span>\u00a0anniversary as conductor of the Boston Pops, and in 2010, was appointed seventh Principal Conductor of the BBC Concert Orchestra. \u201cBecause we will involve many members of our campus community in the chorus…including pianists, composers, and members of our opera company…it is an opportunity for the entire Brevard community to join together,\u201d he says.<\/p>\n
