Furman University will once again reach out to its alumni, parents and friends from around the world when the school celebrates \u201cDins Day\u201d Tuesday, April 26.<\/p>\n
April 26 is the last day of classes for students and \u201cDins Day\u201d is a 24-hour celebration where all members of the Furman community are encouraged to wear purple, join the party online or at a local Furman event, broadcast their Paladin Pride through social media (using #DinsDay) and help raise money to support the university\u2019s future students.<\/p>\n
Last year\u2019s Dins Day blitz was supported by 1,700 individual gifts totaling over $1 million.<\/p>\n
Justin Rourk \u201814, Associate Director of Development Communications at Furman and coordinator of the event, says Dins Day 2015 set the stage for a more ambitious campaign this year.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe are thrilled to launch our second ever day of Furman spirit and giving, and we intend to make it even bigger and better than last year,\u201d he said. \u201cIn addition to our on-campus and online celebrations, we are adding regional events in Greenville, Atlanta, Charlotte, Charleston, Nashville, and Washington D.C.\u201d<\/p>\n
Rourk said it will be a day full of engagement, involvement and Paladin Pride, and philanthropy will continue to be one of the central themes of the day. The goal for 2016 is to secure more than 2,000 gifts through donor challenges promoted via email and social media.<\/p>\n
\u201cDins Day\u201d is derived from the university\u2019s mascot, the Paladins. The event is modeled after similar 24-hour spirit and fundraising blitzes taking place at liberal arts universities around the country.<\/p>\n
