The event is part of Furman\u2019s Cultural Life Program. Williams will sign books following the lecture.<\/p>\n<p>Williams\u2019 talk is part of \u201cBuilding the Beloved Community 2016,\u201d a series of events commemorating the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. The events are made possible through a partnership between Furman and Gamma Gamma Lambda Chapter, Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity.<\/p>\n<p>Williams has made his career a model of \u201cmeeting in the middle\u201d by working as a reporter for national news organizations. With three decades of experience reporting from Washington, he is considered one of the nation\u2019s most reputable political analysts with his dedication to informing and challenging the American public. He has interviewed numerous Washington power players and elected officials (including Presidents Obama, George W. Bush, Bill Clinton, George H.W. Bush, and Ronald Reagan), giving him a unique vantage point on America\u2019s constantly evolving political climate.<\/p>\n<p>A political columnist for <em>The Washington Post<\/em> and a regular commentator and host for Fox News programs, Williams also served as host of NPR\u2019s \u201cTalk of the Nation.\u201d He was awarded an Emmy Award for <em>Politics: The New Black Power <\/em>and<em> A.
