Following last week’s gubernatorial primaries, Jermaine Johnson won the democratic nomination outright while two remaining republicans will face each other in a runoff on June 23. ABC affiliate WJCL-SAV<\/a> (Savannah) turned to Furman University’s Danielle Vinson<\/a> for her insights on what the runoff will hold for Pamela Evette and Alan Wilson. She said it could go either way.<\/p>\n

“Right now, I think the one<\/span><\/span>\u00a0thing we know that<\/span><\/span>\u00a0distinguishes them is that<\/span><\/span> Evette has Trump’s<\/span><\/span>\u00a0endorsement,” said Vinson, Furman alum and professor of politics and international affairs<\/a>. “But it’s not<\/span><\/span>\u00a0like Alan Wilson is not also<\/span><\/span>\u00a0a Trump supporter. So I<\/span><\/span>\u00a0think they’re going to have<\/span><\/span>\u00a0to actually start talking a<\/span><\/span>\u00a0bit more about issues and<\/span><\/span>\u00a0helping voters <\/span><\/span>distinguish between the<\/span><\/span>\u00a0two of them.” And that means candidates will likely ramp up spending on ads, she explained.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
