Vinson, a Furman alum and professor of politics and international affairs, told reporter Joseph Bustos that dipping into personal coffers to cover campaign expenses is effective to a point, but ultimately, the voters will decide the outcome in the upcoming governor&#8217;s race and other political contests in the state.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf you got to spend half your time raising money, that\u2019s time you\u2019re not spending getting in front of voters, and especially as we\u2019re getting closer to the primary date, that becomes really important,\u201d she said. \u201cYou can be a wealthy person, but if you\u2019re not selling what the voters want, you\u2019re not going to get elected.
