Johnson Lecture Series.<\/p>\n<p>Davis became Furman\u2019s 12th President on July 1, 2014.\u00a0 She is a member of the Council of Presidents, a national advisory group of college and university chief executives, and she was recently named to Greenville Business Magazine\u2019s \u201c50 Most Influential People.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>She serves on the Board of Directors of the Greenville Chamber of Commerce, and is an honorary member of the Board of Governors of the Commerce Club.\u00a0 She is also a member of the Board of Directors of Comstock Resources, Inc., an energy company based in Texas.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_19914\" style=\"width: 230px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.furman.edu\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/218\/2022\/08\/ld-johnson-smaller.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-19914\" class=\"size-full wp-image-19914 lazyload\" data-src=\"https:\/\/www.furman.edu\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/218\/2022\/08\/ld-johnson-smaller.jpg\" alt=\"L.D. Johnson served as university chaplain and professor of religion at Furman.<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Before coming to Furman, Davis spent 22 years at Baylor University in Texas, where she rose to the position of Executive Vice President and Provost.\u00a0 In addition to being a member of the accounting\u00a0faculty at Baylor, she also served as Vice Provost for Financial and Academic Administration, Associate Dean for Undergraduate Business Programs, and Acting Chair of the Department of Accounting and Business Law.<\/p>\n<p>Davis received her Bachelor of Business Administration degree from Baylor in 1984 and earned her Ph.D. from Duke University in 1992.<\/p>\n<p>The L.D. Johnson Memorial Lecture Series honors the memory of the late <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/library.furman.edu\/specialcollections\/furman\/johnson_biography.htm\">L.D. Johnson<\/a><\/strong>, who served as chaplain and professor of religion at Furman for nearly 15 years before his death in 1981.
