Richmond, a member of Furman&#8217;s Institute for the Advancement of Community Health (IACH), said medical billing errors cost patients billions of dollars each year. She said up to 80% of health care consumers nationwide have reported errors. &#8220;That error can be duplications, it can be maybe a procedure that they did not actually receive or even just costs that are just not consistent with what the hospital has published,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p>Richmond is the postdoctoral training coordinator at Furman&#8217;s IACH.
