It was dismantled piece by piece (all 2,400 of them), ferried across the Pacific on a cargo ship, through the Panama Canal, then on to Charleston, South Carolina, where it sat in a warehouse until funding to rebuild it on Furman&#8217;s campus became available in 2008.<\/p>\n<p>Montrose spoke with Salinas about the temple, Buddhism and its origins, and why the &#8220;Walk for Peace&#8221; is inspiring to so many. She told Salinas the walk brings awareness to our interconnectedness and has the unique ability to foster compassion.
