Love comes in many forms. Across the country and around the world, a love for Furman University runs deep for reasons that go far beyond its beautiful campus. Again and again, alumni, students, parents and friends point to the people: the professors who mentor, the friendships that last decades and a sense of belonging unlike anywhere else. Rooted in curiosity and connection, Furman isn\u2019t just where hearts and minds are shaped \u2013 it\u2019s where they stay connected for a lifetime.<\/p>\n
\u201cFurman prepared me well for a career in medicine, but what I cherish most is that it\u2019s where I met my wife. From working in the infirmary to forming a lifelong partnership, Furman gave me both my profession and my greatest personal joy.\u201d<\/strong> \u201cBeyond earning a degree from a beautiful and elite institution, it was the people and camaraderie that defined my Furman experience. Hearing Dr. (John) Crabtree read Shakespeare aloud and bring it to life remains one of my favorite Furman memories.\u201d<\/strong> \u201cFrom the moment I first visited campus, I knew Furman was where I belonged. I arrived shy and unsure and left confident, engaged and prepared for life. Furman was instrumental in shaping the person I am today.\u201d<\/strong> \u201cThe people. The relationships I built there are still so valuable to me.\u201d<\/strong> \u201cFurman is the place where I saw \u20187 years of friendship\u2019 \u2014 I had friends ahead of me as a freshman and friends behind me as a senior, and that shaped how I went into the world as a citizen with a strong sense of community.\u201d<\/strong> \u201cFurman helped me discover who I was and what I was capable of. I loved the professors, student life opportunities, and the relationships that will last a lifetime.\u201d<\/strong> \u201cI love how the professors lean in as mentors. I love that living on campus creates a true community. I love the beautiful campus. I love that alumni support each other. I love the chance to study abroad, explore many subjects and truly experience a liberal arts education.\u201d<\/strong> \u201cI love Furman\u2019s location \u2013 nestled near the Blue Ridge Mountains and just three hours from the beach. Greenville\u2019s vibrant social scene, incredible restaurants and welcoming size made Furman a wonderful home for four years.\u201d<\/strong> \u201cMy love for Furman is multifaceted. The faculty, staff, and administration allowed me to imagine my future without limits and believe in myself in transformative ways. They rekindled my creative joy, gave me confidence in the unknown and helped me realize that my childhood dreams are not fantasies, but real possibilities.
