Furman University will reopen Monday, February 2 at\u00a012:00PM.<\/p>\n
Employees should plan to return to work at that time.\u00a0If employees feel they cannot safely return to work, they should contact their supervisors.<\/p>\n
In-person classes\u00a0will resume\u00a0at 12:30 PM. Faculty may elect to conduct remote instruction for morning classes.\u00a0 Likewise, faculty who teach in the afternoon and are unable to get to campus safely may also elect to teach remotely.<\/p>\n
We understand that some students may still be facing challenges due to the winter storm. Students who are unable to return or may be delayed should email academic.deans@furman.edu<\/a><\/u>\u00a0and notify their professors.<\/p>\n Students will receive a separate update from Student Life with additional updates regarding campus services, hours, and resources.<\/p>\n Temperatures will continue to drop below freezing in the evening and early morning hours over the next few days, potentially creating icy conditions on roads and walkways. All Furman sanctioned, off-campus student events are canceled. At this time, on-campus student events are permitted to continue as planned. Student Life will communicate directly with students if changing conditions require any on-campus events to be cancelled.<\/p>\n Students are strongly encouraged to refrain from operating motor vehicles until conditions improve. Please exercise heightened caution when navigating campus on foot.<\/p>\n Employees required to work on campus during a campus closure will be notified by their departments. Other employees should not come to campus during a campus closure (see Emergency Campus Closure policy<\/a>).<\/p>\n The Dining Hall will remain open for students only with limited hours. Winds could gust as high as 45 mph. The forecast calls for heavy snow, with total accumulations between 2 and 7 inches possible. Winds could gust as high as 45 mph. These conditions could make many roads impassable and may produce isolated power outages.<\/p>\n At this time, the university expects to operate on a normal schedule Friday.
