(photo by Deborah Miller)<\/em><\/p><\/div>\n<p>Furman scored four trys in the second half to pull away from a feisty Citadel team 38-10 Saturday at a packed Roberts Field.<\/p>\n<p>The Paladins failed to generate much offensive rhythm early and tackled poorly at times as the Citadel scored two trys. A try by Furman 8-man Patrick Musau and some penalty kicks by Jacob Milchuck helped the Paladins to a 14-10 lead at the break.<\/p>\n<p>In the second half, Furman was able to establish some offensive momentum and defensive consistency. Austin Willis, John Stumpf and Matty Newman all scored in the second half as the Paladins were able to spread the field.<\/p>\n<p>The Bulldogs threatened to score a few times but were thwarted by a stingy defensive or done in by their own mistakes. The Paladins move to 3-1 on the season while the Citadel falls to 2-2.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Citadel always give us a scrappy game,\u201d said Furman Coach John Roberts. \u201cThey are surely an improved team from last year and are more athletic. I was pleased that we were able to play our game in the second half.
