Furman University’s new wine label, Bonhomie, gets a shoutout in The State<\/a> and other outlets. In The State, Lyn Riddle explains how the label evolved and couches her piece in the context of other institutions that have fashioned university-adjacent brands.<\/p>\n

The label originated with Furman chemistry alumna Allison Kennington, owner of Kennington Family Winery<\/a>. She worked two decades at Eli Lilly developing medicines before venturing into the world of viticulture, Riddle reports. Kennington approached Furman with the idea in time for the university’s bicentennial in 2026.<\/p>\n

In other coverage, Furman’s Christine Velasquez, assistant vice president of marketing and communications, and Kennington appear on Fox Carolina News<\/a> program “Access Carolina” to talk about the wines with host Margaret Burnquist. And on WSPA’s<\/a> “Your Carolina,” the two join hosts Megan Heidlberg and Furman alumnus Jamarcus Gaston ’07 to promote the collaboration.<\/p>\n
