Furman University\u2019s students are among the friendliest in the country, and its faculty are among the best, according to the Princeton Review\u2019s \u201cBest 390 Colleges\u201d<\/a> ranking released today.<\/p>\n

For the 43rd<\/sup> consecutive year, Furman was included in the Princeton Review<\/a>\u2019s publication, which is based on surveys of students during the previous academic year. This year, Furman was also included in the unranked list of best universities in the South, a group of schools the publication considers \u201cacademically outstanding and well worth consideration in your college search.\u201d<\/p>\n

Furman was also among the \u201cTop 50 Green Colleges\u201d list of universities that \u201cshare superb sustainability practices, a strong foundation in sustainability education and a healthy quality of life for students on campus.\u201d These universities were also not ranked.<\/p>\n

Students at Furman ranked 25th<\/sup> in the country based on responses to the prompt \u201cStudents here are extremely friendly.\u201d<\/p>\n

The faculty ranked 16th<\/sup> in the \u201cprofessors get high marks\u201d category, based on the statement \u201cProfessors are interesting and bring their material to life.\u201d<\/p>\n

In addition to being friendly, students described themselves in the survey as being \u201cvery motivated and driven to perform well academically.\u201d However, the environment is more supportive than competitive, as students \u201cpush each other to be the best people possible.\u201d<\/p>\n

One student said, \u201cI transferred to Furman because of the student body. I was completely taken aback at how genuine and kind the people here are.\u201d<\/p>\n

About the professors, one student said \u201cthe overwhelming majority\u201d are \u201cexperts in their field and truly care about helping students succeed.\u201d Another said the professors create environments in which students feel \u201ccomfortable yet challenged.\u201d One said, “My professors have changed my life by supporting me and working with me from academic interests to personal crises.
