1992 Furman graduate and filmmaker Chris White will present his film, “Taken In,” on Wednesday, Feb. 22 at 7 p.m. in Burgiss Theater.<\/p>\n
The showing is free and open to the public and is part of Furman\u2019s Cultural Life Program events. It is sponsored by Furman\u2019s Independent Film Society. A question and answer session with White and the\u00a0star of the film, Madelaine Hoptry, follows the presentation.<\/p>\n
“Taken In” is a handcrafted feature film about a man who must spend a weekend alone with his estranged teenage daughter at a roadside resort (South of the Border, Dillon, S.C.). It is here that Simon (played by Tim Brosnan) and Brooklyn (played by Hoptry) must confront the issues that have driven them apart and ultimately choose how they will move forward, whether\u00a0together or alone.<\/p>\n
White is founder of and executive producer for PARIS MTN SCOUT, a production company based in Greenville. He has worked as a high school drama teacher, ad agency creative director, university cinema professor, improvisational comedy performer, and dad. He\u00a0is pursuing a Master of Fine Arts degree\u00a0in screenwriting while imagining and creating micro-budget films.<\/p>\n
