Launched in 2002 by the Riley Institute, Emerging Public Leaders is an intensive, statewide service-oriented leadership program for rising high school seniors.<\/p>\n<p>Now in its 14th year, EPL has accepted 16 rising high school seniors from across South Carolina, bringing the total number of students who have participated in the program to 185.<\/p>\n<p>The 2015-16 Riley Institute Emerging Public Leaders are:<\/p>\n<p><strong>Clover:<br \/>\n<\/strong>Kaitlyn Sain<br \/>\nClover High School<\/p>\n<p><strong>Columbia:<br \/>\n<\/strong>Tori Jabber<br \/>\nIrmo High School<\/p>\n<p><strong>Duncan:<br \/>\n<\/strong>Khalil Gamble (of Moore, S.C.)<br \/>\nByrnes High School<\/p>\n<p><strong>Greer:<br \/>\n<\/strong>Kehler Bryant<br \/>\nBlue Ridge High School<\/p>\n<p><strong>Greenville<\/strong>:<br \/>\nRhett Baker<br \/>\nSt. Joseph\u2019s High School<\/p>\n<p>Mira Carroll<br \/>\nSouthside High School<\/p>\n<p>Emma Gross<br \/>\nSt. Joseph\u2019s High School<\/p>\n<p>Andrew James<br \/>\nGreenville High School<\/p>\n<p>Elizabeth Marron<br \/>\nGreenville High School<\/p>\n<p>Alexis Wright<br \/>\nGreenville High School<\/p>\n<p><strong>Mauldin:<br \/>\n<\/strong>Celine Crum<br \/>\nMauldin High School<\/p>\n<p><strong>Orangeburg:<br \/>\n<\/strong>Drew Davis<br \/>\nOrangeburg-Wilkinson High School<\/p>\n<p><strong>Spartanburg:<br \/>\n<\/strong>Jeremiah Drummond<br \/>\nDorman High School<\/p>\n<p><strong>Summerton:<br \/>\n<\/strong>Desmond Brown<br \/>\nScott\u2019s Branch High School<\/p>\n<p>Brianna Brunson<br \/>\nScott\u2019s Branch High School<\/p>\n<p><strong>Summerville:<br \/>\n<\/strong>AJ Alford<br \/>\nFort Dorchester High School<\/p>\n<p>Accepted students will convene for a week on the Furman University campus where they will investigate topics such as engaging in the community, analyzing critical issues, practicing ethical leadership, developing communication and presentation skills, and planning for the implementation of a service project.<\/p>\n<p>Following the summer, students work with Institute staff, school officials, and residents in their communities to more fully develop their service project ideas, and then later implement projects that reflect needs in their communities.<\/p>\n<p>The students return to campus the following spring to present their community service projects to a panel of judges, and the winning project receives funds for program expansion or replication.<\/p>\n<p>Learn more about the <a href=\"https:\/\/riley.furman.edu\/education\/projects\/emerging-public-leaders\/emerging-public-leaders\">Riley Institute\u2019s Emerging Public Leaders program<\/a>.
