{"id":37794,"date":"2025-04-25T10:22:16","date_gmt":"2025-04-25T14:22:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.furman.edu\/news\/?p=37794"},"modified":"2025-04-25T10:22:16","modified_gmt":"2025-04-25T14:22:16","slug":"furman-communication-studies-students-win-broadcasting-scholarships","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.furman.edu\/news\/furman-communication-studies-students-win-broadcasting-scholarships\/","title":{"rendered":"Furman communication studies students win broadcasting scholarships"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Three Furman University <a href=\"https:\/\/www.furman.edu\/academics\/communication-studies\/\">communication studies<\/a> majors were awarded $5,000 total in scholarships from the South Carolina Broadcasters Association (SCBA) <a href=\"https:\/\/www.scba.net\/edu-foundation\/\">Educational Foundation.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>The SCBA Educational Foundation was established in 1982 to provide grants, scholarships and endowments for South Carolina colleges and universities offering journalism and broadcast-related studies. Its annual $2,000 Wally Mullinax Scholarship went to Lexia Gianopoulos \u201926, student director for the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/channel\/UC3UaWOCIldF5_qWnCYEt0RQ\">Furman University News Channel.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Dixon Massingill \u201926 and Sindey Lyn \u201926 each received $1,500 from a new scholarship established by the SCBA.
