Audiences worldwide watched sparks fly during a first date filmed at Furman University\u2019s Janie Earle Furman Rose Garden on the Netflix reality show, \u201cLove on the Spectrum.\u201d<\/a><\/p>\n

In the show\u2019s third season, which released April 2, Clemson University graduate<\/a> Tanner Smith shared a date with Callie Truelove on Furman\u2019s campus. The two met for the first time amid pink and red roses \u00ad\u2014 Truelove\u2019s favorite flower, as she told Smith during their Episode 5 date. After their conversation in the garden, they enjoyed some snacks lakeside and sat on a nearby bench, where they appreciated the waddling of a flock of ducklings.<\/p>\n

The \u201cLove on the Spectrum\u201d crew filmed the scene on May 16, 2024, capturing the late-afternoon light shimmering off Furman Lake and illuminating the Bell Tower. University staff first fielded the request to film on campus a month earlier; the show\u2019s crew had picked out the Rose Garden as the perfect spot for the date. A staff committee reviews filming requests and works with the applicants to ensure the campus is ready to host the incoming production crew.<\/p>\n
