He&#8217;s articulate, intelligent, funny and personable. It&#8217;s infectious, really. On May 9, Christie, who was born with spinal muscular atrophy, a form of muscular dystrophy, did something remarkable: he earned his bachelor&#8217;s degree in mass communications at Furman. Even more remarkable, he was named the top male graduate in his class, earning the Bradshaw-Feaster Medal for General Excellence given by Furman&#8217;s faculty.
