Nearly 80 donors participated with gifts ranging from $5 to $1,000. In total, supporters gave close to $8,500, more than doubling the amount raised for student projects in 2014. Even if a group was unable to reach their total fundraising goal, all projects were designed to be scalable and funds will be put to use immediately.<\/p>\n<p>Here is how the key groups fared in generating support for their projects:<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><strong>The Bell Tower Boys<\/strong>, Furman\u2019s all-male a cappella group, raised $4,528, exceeding <img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-17443 alignright lazyload\" data-src=\"https:\/\/www.furman.edu\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/218\/2022\/08\/The-Bell-Tower-Boys-Logo-2edited-medium.jpg\" alt=\"The Bell Tower Boys\" width=\"244\" height=\"125\" src=\"data:image\/svg+xml;base64,PHN2ZyB3aWR0aD0iMSIgaGVpZ2h0PSIxIiB4bWxucz0iaHR0cDovL3d3dy53My5vcmcvMjAwMC9zdmciPjwvc3ZnPg==\" style=\"--smush-placeholder-width: 244px; --smush-placeholder-aspect-ratio: 244\/125;\" \/>their $4,000 goal for a high school recruitment tour. Since raising the funds, the group already began their spring tour and is making plans to record a unique album of their best hits.<\/p>\n<p><strong><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-17444 alignleft lazyload\" data-src=\"https:\/\/www.furman.edu\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/218\/2022\/08\/bike_drawing-medium.jpg\" alt=\"Save our Bikes\" width=\"243\" height=\"129\" src=\"data:image\/svg+xml;base64,PHN2ZyB3aWR0aD0iMSIgaGVpZ2h0PSIxIiB4bWxucz0iaHR0cDovL3d3dy53My5vcmcvMjAwMC9zdmciPjwvc3ZnPg==\" style=\"--smush-placeholder-width: 243px; --smush-placeholder-aspect-ratio: 243\/129;\" \/>Save our Bikes<\/strong> raised $2,051 towards their $5,000 goal to design and build bicycle rack coverings on campus. Through a collaboration with the physics department and the Shi Center for Sustainability, the students will engineer and design the shelter using sustainable material. Design for the first prototype has already begun.<\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/s3.amazonaws.com\/newsimg.furman.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/04\/Palnetworksocceredited.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright wp-image-17445 lazyload\" data-src=\"https:\/\/www.furman.edu\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/218\/2022\/08\/Palnetworksocceredited-medium.jpg\" alt=\"Paladin Network\" width=\"274\" height=\"148\" src=\"data:image\/svg+xml;base64,PHN2ZyB3aWR0aD0iMSIgaGVpZ2h0PSIxIiB4bWxucz0iaHR0cDovL3d3dy53My5vcmcvMjAwMC9zdmciPjwvc3ZnPg==\" style=\"--smush-placeholder-width: 274px; --smush-placeholder-aspect-ratio: 274\/148;\" \/><\/a>The Paladin Network,<\/strong> Furman\u2019s only TV station, generated $806 towards their $2,500 goal to purchase new equipment. In adding to their production toolbox, they hope to increase membership with renewed capabilities. The students budgeted $750 for expanded audio equipment capabilities and though they did not meet their overall goal, FUEL funds will be able to cover that expense.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/s3.amazonaws.com\/newsimg.furman.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/04\/MakeryHeader.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-17446 alignleft lazyload\" data-src=\"https:\/\/www.furman.edu\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/218\/2022\/08\/MakeryHeader-medium.jpg\" alt=\"Makery Project\" width=\"268\" height=\"99\" src=\"data:image\/svg+xml;base64,PHN2ZyB3aWR0aD0iMSIgaGVpZ2h0PSIxIiB4bWxucz0iaHR0cDovL3d3dy53My5vcmcvMjAwMC9zdmciPjwvc3ZnPg==\" style=\"--smush-placeholder-width: 268px; --smush-placeholder-aspect-ratio: 268\/99;\" \/><\/a>Hoping to strengthen community connections, <strong>The Makery Project<\/strong> is an initiative and physical space that will serve as an adaptable hub for mixed use.
