GREENVILLE, S.C.\u2014The Furman Opera, Furman Symphony Orchestra and Furman Chamber Choir will present a double bill featuring Puccini\u2019s \u201cSister Angelica\u201d and Douglas Moore\u2019s \u201cThe Devil and Daniel Webster\u201d on Thursday, Feb. 16 and again on Saturday, Feb. 18 at 8 p.m. in McAlister Auditorium on the Furman University campus.<\/p>\n

Tickets are $20 for general admission, $15 for seniors 60 and older, and $10 for students. The operas are performed in English and are suitable for all ages.<\/p>\n

Bruce Schoonmaker directs the operas with Thomas Joiner conducting the Furman Opera Orchestra and singing actors. Chorus master is Hugh Floyd.<\/p>\n

In fully staged performances, “Sister Angelica”\u00a0presents a tale of forgiveness and redemption, followed by “The Devil and Daniel Webster,”\u00a0which is\u00a0a spirited story of steadfastness and love of liberty.<\/p>\n

Cast members include Elizabeth Beeson ’12 (Greenville), who portrays the Mistress of Novices in\u00a0“Sister Angelica.”\u00a0Katie Atkinson ’12 (Greenville) plays the steadfast Mary Stone in “The Devil and Daniel Webster,” and\u00a0Chase McAbee ’12 (Blue Ridge)\u00a0plays the dastardly Scratch.<\/p>\n
