Delegates from other colleges and universities\u00a0around the world took\u00a0part in the processional with alumni, student leaders, trustees and community leaders from South Carolina.<\/p>\n<p>Davis, who began her duties as Furman\u2019s president on July 1, 2014, also presented an inaugural address titled &#8220;A Legacy of Hope.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Davis came to Furman from Baylor University, where she spent 22 years as a member of the accounting\u00a0faculty and rose to the position of Executive Vice President and Provost.\u00a0 She is a graduate of Baylor and received her Ph.D. from Duke University.<\/p>\n<p>Davis is currently a member of the Board of Directors of the Greenville Chamber of Commerce and serves as an honorary member of the Board of Governors of the Commerce Club.\u00a0 She was recently named to Greenville Business Magazine\u2019s \u201c50 Most Influential People 2014.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Elizabeth Davis, Ph.D., was formally installed as Furman\u2019s 12th president during an inaugural ceremony Thursday, March 19 in McAlister Auditorium.
